SPORTSDESK – The Plover Black Sox spent the weekend in North Dakota at an invitational baseball tournament, looking to pick up valuable experience against top national and international teams. The road trip to North Dakota ads to an already impressive list of states visited during the history of the Black Sox ball club. Nebraska, South Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Illinois, Michigan and Indiana were all previous visits during past seasons.

During weekend action, Plover fell 4-2 to Brainerd (MN), 7-6 vs Bloomington (MN) and 13-6 vs Fargo (ND). The Black Sox had held leads against Brainers and Bloomington before falling in those contests. Plover picked up their lone win during their quartet of games vs Manitoba (Canada) by a score of 5-3.

Plover gets back into Wisconsin Valley Conference action on Tuesday, July 2nd at Merrill (1-5). The first place Black Sox (6-1) look to keep pace ahead of Wisconsin Rapids (5-1) and Antigo (4-1) at the top of the standings.
