AMHERST – The Pittsville volleyball team fell to 1-5 with a 3-0 loss to Amherst in a nonconference match Thursday at Amherst High School.

Amherst won 26-24, 25-13, 25-11.

Julia Redmond had seven kills and eight digs, Haylee Zawislan added five kills, and Angel Millard had nine assists for the Panthers.

“We played them point-for-point in game one and lost a close one,” Pittsville coach Buff Heller said. “After that, we mentally checked out early in games two and three. We need to believe in the system and each other, it could have made a difference in the match.”

Pittsville earned its first win of the season on Tuesday with a 3-1 win on the road at Almond-Bancroft.

Redmond had 13 kills, four aces and nine digs, Millard had 15 assists and Melissa Giles had 10 digs for the Panthers.
