NEILLSVILLE/GRANTON BLOWS OUT FALL CREEK IN OPENER

NEILLSVILLE – Neillsville/Granton scored five first-half touchdowns and dominated throughout, ripping Fall Creek 41-6 in the Cloverbelt Conference football season opener for both teams on Thursday night at Neillsville High School.
Jonah Zoschke ran for touchdowns of 2, 15 and 16 yards, Tommy Friemoth added a 38-yard TD run, and Braden Trunkel hit Monte Diestler with an 11-yard scoring pass as the Warriors took a commanding 35-0 lead by halftime.
Zoschke finished with 146 yards rushing and Friemoth added 114 as N/G racked up 289 yards on the ground.
Trunkel returned an interception for a touchdown for Neillsville/Granton’s final score early in the fourth quarter.
Neillsville/Granton defense was just as impressive, holding Fall Creek to 145 total yards and had a pair of interceptions.
Neillsville/Granton plays at Colby next Friday, Aug. 30. Fall Creek hosts Eau Claire Regis on Thursday, Aug. 29, in its home opener.
