NEILLSVILLE – The Neillsville boys basketball team maintain its one-half game lead on top of the Cloverbelt Conference East Division standings with a hard-fought 85-71 win over Colby on Thursday at Neillsville High School.
The Warriors shot 51 percent from the field (32-for-63) as they had their second-highest offensive output this season in the win.
Neillsville is now 16-5 overall and 11-1 in the Cloverbelt East after stopping a mini two-game losing streak. The Warriors hold a one-half game lead over Columbus Catholic with two games remaining in the conference season. Neillsville plays at Spencer on Tuesday and hosts Columbus Catholic on Feb. 21.
Andrew Brown scored 27 points, and Mason Roenz added 25 points and 13 rebounds for Neillsville in the win.
Kaden Wiese had 22 points and Mateo Lopez scored 15 for Colby, which falls to 13-5 and 10-3 in the Cloverbelt East. Colby plays a nonconference game at Stratford on Tuesday, which will be broadcast live at zaleskisports.com.
