MOSINEE VOLLEYBALL SWEEPS FOUR MATCHES ON FIRST DAY OF MENOMONIE SPRAWL

MENOMONIE – The Mosinee volleyball team went a perfect 4-0 on Friady to advance to the top-eight bracket at the 40-team Menomonie Sprawl, which is being played at the University of Wisconsin-Stout.


Mosinee defeated Oshkosh West 27-25, 25-19; Grantsburg 25-14, 26-24; Eau Claire Regis 25-15, 25-11; and Eau Claire Memorial 25-19, 25-13, during pool play on Friday.


Jessica Maurer had 22 kills, Claire Selenske had 21 kills and 24 digs, and Alexis Jones had 72 assists, seven service aces and 23 digs for Mosinee.


Jenna Placek added 19 kills and 10 blocks, Abbi Martin had 16 kills and eight blocks, and Jessica Brown had six aces and 23 digs as well for Mosinee.


The Indians (7-0 overall) will resume play Saturday morning in the top-eight bracket of the tournament.


No other local teams at the tournament reported results.
