MOSINEE GIRLS BASKETBALL HOLDS OFF NEILLSVILLE AT AUBURNDALE TOURNAMENT

AUBURNDALE – Mosinee held off a second-half surge from Neillsville to win a semifinal game at the Auburndale Holiday Girls Basketball Tournament 53-50 in a battle of undefeated teams on Monday afternoon at Auburndale High School.


Lexi Freiboth scored all eight of her points in the first half as Mosinee built a 29-18 lead.


Neillsville stormed back in the second half to make it close, but Mosinee held on by making 7 of 15 free throws and enough stops at the end to remain unbeaten at 11-0 this season.


Kate Fitzgerald scored 11 points, and Adalyn Lehman and Claire Selenske each added eight points for the Indians.


Paige Voight had 12 points and Emma Moseley added 10 for Neillsville, which drops to 7-1.


Neillsville will play Wauwatosa West in the third-place game at 1 p.m. and Mosinee will take on Auburndale for the tournament championship at 3 p.m. on Tuesday. Both games will be live at zaleskisports.com.
