MOSINEE BASEBALL BLANKS MEDFORD, NOW 4-0 IN GNC

MEDFORD – Keagen Jirschele and Trevor Garski combined on a three-hit shutout to lead the Mosinee baseball team to a 2-0 win over Medford in a Great Northern Conference game Wednesday at Medford High School.
The game was scoreless until the sixth when Garski singled home Tanner Unertl to give Mosinee a 1-0 lead.
The Indians added another run in the top of the seventh when Drake Grod drove in Garrett Shupe with a sacrifice fly.
Jirschele struck out seven and walked five in 6 1/3 innings to earn the win, with Garski getting the last two outs to earn the save for Mosinee (8-1, 4-0 Great Northern Conference).
Logan Baumgartner took the loss for Medford (9-4, 2-1 GNC), striking out three in a complete-game effort.
The two teams meet again Friday at Mosinee High School at 5 p.m.
