HAILEY VOEKLER SIGNING DAY
SPORTSDESK - Colby High School senior Hailey Voelker officially made Lake Superior State (Mich.) her college choice on Wednesday evening. Voelker signed her letter of intent with the NCAA Division II Lakers in the Colby High School gymnasium.
After her junior year in 2018-19, Voelker was a first team all-conference selection in the Cloverbelt Conference East Division. Colby went on to its first-ever state appearance, playing at the Resch Center in Green Bay in March (highlights here: https://www.facebook.com/ZaleskiSports/videos/412109929524193). Voelker was also voted Honorable Mention All-State by the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association last season.
The Lakers participate in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The Lakers opened play this season on Oct. 29 and currently post a record of 2-1. The Lakers are coached by Brandon Lokken, who has entered his third year as head coach at Lake Superior State.
The Colby girls basketball team, led by Voelker, begins this season at Medford on Nov. 19 at 7 p.m.
