COLUMBUS CATHOLIC SOFTBALL SCORES SEVEN IN FIRST INNING, DEFEATS COLBY/ABBOTSFORD

MARSHFIELD – Columbus Catholic scored seven times in the first inning and were able to hold on to defeat Colby/Abbotsford 13-5 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division softball game Thursday at the Marshfield Fairgrounds.


Akousa Yeboah had two hits and three RBI, Cierra Dieringer had three hits and two RBI, and Cam Casperson also had two hits and scored twice for Columbus Catholic (5-7, 3-3 Cloverbelt East), which pulls ahead of Colby/Abbotsford for third place in the conference standings.


Hailey Zimmermann earned the win, giving up two unearned runs in five innings. Yeboah finished up the final two innings for the Dons.


Colby/Abbotsford pounded out 11 hits, with Josie Higley driving in two runs. The Hornets are now 4-5 overall and in the Cloverbelt East.
