CHIPPEWA FALLS EDGES STEVENS POINT IN OVERTIME IN DIVISION 1 LEVEL 1 FOOTBALL PLAYOFF

STEVENS POINT – Chippewa Falls scored a touchdown and two-point conversion in the fourth quarter to tie the game, then did the same in overtime to pull out a 22-21 win over Stevens Point in a WIAA Division 1 Level 1 football playoff game Friday night at Goerke Field.
Stevens Point led 14-6 after a 32-yard interception return for a touchdown by Ty Madlena before Chippewa Falls tied things up on an 8-yard run by Karson Bowe and two-point run by Judah Dunham with 6:13 left in the game.
Neither team scored for the rest of regulation and the game went to overtime.
Stevens Point scored first on a 6-yard touchdown pass from Riley Warzynski and Cam Saeger added the extra point to make it 21-14.
The Cardinals responded with a 25-yard touchdown pass from Brayden Warwick to Bowe and instead of trying a kick to tie it, Chippewa Falls went for the win. Bowe converted the two-point conversion to knock off the fourth-seed Panthers.
No. 5 seed Chippewa Falls (8-2) now gets the task of playing at No. 1 seed and the state’s top-ranked team in Kimberly (10-0) on Friday, Oct. 29.
Stevens Point, which committed four turnovers, finishes its season with a 7-4 record.
