ATHENS VOLLEYBALL TAKES CARE OF SPENCER IN DIVISION 4 REGIONAL QUARTERFINAL

ATHENS – Athens came into the WIAA Division 4 playoffs as a No. 2 seed in its regional and lived up to that with a dominating 3-0 win over Spencer on Tuesday at Athens High School in a regional quarterfinal matchup.


Athens won 25-8, 25-6, 25-13, to move on to a D-4 regional semifinal at home against No. 7 seed Port Edwards at 7 p.m. Thursday. Port Edwards swept Greenwood 3-0 on Tuesday.


Sophia Coker had 10 kills, Addison Lavicka had 10 kills and 14 assists, Jazelle Hartwig had eight kills and 11 assists, Celina Ellenbecker had five service aces, and Savannah Epping had 12 digs for Athens.
