ATHENS BOYS BASKETBALL HOLDS OFF STRATFORD TO IMPROVE TO 9-1

ATHENS – Athens maintained its lead in the Marawood Conference North Division with a 60-54 win over Stratford in a conference crossover game Thursday night at Athens High School.


Athens improves to 9-1 overall and 5-1 in the Marawood North, while Stratford falls to 4-4 overall and 1-3 in the Marawood South.


Caden Bruesiwitz was a bright spot for the Tigers, scoring a season-high 17 points by making 5 of 8 shots from 3-point range.


Unfortunately for Stratford, the rest of the team was 0-for-13 from long range and the Tigers came up short in a tightly-contested game.


Camden Daul also had 17 points for the Tigers, and Jake Skroch scored 12 in the loss.


Stratford returns to action Tuesday at home against Wisconsin Rapids Assumption.
