WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Assumption girls basketball team pulled to within a game of first place in the Marawood Conference South Division with a 44-35 win over Marathon on Tuesday at Assumption High School.

The Royals’ win puts them at 8-2 overall and 4-2 in the Marawood Conference, and one-half game ahead of Marathon (5-4, 3-2 Marawood South) in the conference standings. With Auburndale’s loss to Edgar on Tuesday, Assumption is now just one game back of the conference lead.

Assumption will host Rib Lake in a crossover on Friday as part of a girls-boys doubleheader. The girls play at 5:30 p.m. with the boys to follow. Both games will be live at zaleskisports.com.
