WISCONSIN RAPIDS WRESTLING FINISHES UNDEFEATED TO CLAIM TITLE AT NORTHERN EXPOSURE INVITE

MERRILL – The Wisconsin Rapids wrestling team won all seven matches to claim the championship at the Northern Exposure Invitational on Wednesday and Thursday at Merrill High School.
Wisconsin Rapids defeated Rosholt 78-6, Marquette (Mich.) 76-0, East Troy 67-6, Wisconsin Dells 62-12, and Beaver Dam 66-16 in pool play to easily advance to the semifinals.
The Raiders rolled past Oshkosh West 61-11 to move on to the championship dual, where they edged Shakopee (Minn.) 31-25 to claim the tournament title.
Carter Freeman earned a pin at 126 pounds and Josh Black had a pin at 145 for Wisconsin Rapids in the championship match. Aiden Armagost (113), Preston Spray (120), Aceyn Meyer (132), Kailar Tritz (170) and Ashton Fischer (195) won by decision, and Brett Back earned a major decision at 160 for the Raiders.
