WAUSAU WEST WRESTLING TOPS WISCONSIN RAPIDS, CREATES THREE-WAY TIE FOR WVC TITLE

WAUSAU WEST – Wausau West won eight of the 14 matches to defeat Wisconsin Rapids 41-25 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference wrestling dual meet Thursday at West High School.


West’s win creates a three-way tie for the conference regular-season championship as the Warriors, Wisconsin Rapids and Marshfield each finish with a 5-1 dual meet record.


Preston Spray (120 pounds) and Brett Back (152) won by pin, Bennett Weidmann (160) won by major decision, and Landyn Freeman (10-6), Aceyn Meyer (132) and Lucas Bean (138) all won by decision for Wisconsin Rapids.


The conference meet will be held at Marshfield on Saturday, Feb. 5.
