STRATFORD – The Stratford football team remains unblemished on the season, and unscored upon defensively.


The Tigers, for the third-straight week to start the 2019 season, posted a shutout, rolling past Tomahawk 81-0 in their Marawood Conference opener Friday night at Tiger Stadium.

Stratford dominated basically every play of the game, forcing numerous negative plays for the Hatchets (0-3, 0-1 Marawood). In fact, Tomahawk was held to minus-97 yards as the Hatchets lost a total of 105 yards on 38 rushing plays. Stratford’s defense also had three safeties in the game.


Stratford racked up 410 total yards, 358 on the ground. Quarterback Max Schwabe attempted just five passes, completing four for 62 yards and three touchdowns to Vaughn Breit, Oscar Telschow and Devin Dennee.


Beau Gross had two rushing touchdowns, Chase Flink returned a free kick 71 yards for a touchdown, and Teddy Redman, Matt Handrick, Luke Gauke, Gavin Kirsch and Raife Smart each added rushing scores for the Tigers.
