STRATFORD – The Stratford wrestling team won all three of its matches to take first place at its home Stratford Quadrangular on Friday night at Stratford High School.

Stratford beat Marshfield 43-24, Holmen 42-33, and Amherst 69-12.

The results from the other matches at the multi-dual meet were not reported.

Devin Dennee (160 pounds), Hunter Ford (170), and Trevor Dennee (182) all won by pin, and Gavin Drexler won by major decision for Stratford in its win over Marshfield.

In a marquee match between two state qualifiers from a year ago, Marshfield junior Gabe Pugh earned a 4-3 win over Stratford senior Max Schwabe at 138 pounds. The win was Pugh’s 100th of his varsity career.

Keagan Cliver (120) and Brett Franklin (132) earned pins, and Shane Westerhausen won 4-1 at 113 for Marshfield’s other wins in contested matches.

Stratford hosts Marathon in its final home meet of the season on Thursday. Marshfield will finish its Wisconsin Valley Conference dual meet schedule at Wausau West on Thursday.
