STEVENS POINT – Zoe Fink hit a home run and was one of three Stevens Point pitchers to combine for on a four-hit shutout as the Panthers blanked Wisconsin Rapids 3-0 in a WIAA Division 1 softball regional final Thursday at Woyak Field.

The No. 3 seed Stevens Point (23-5) will play at No. 2 Marshfield (19-4) in a D-1 sectional semifinal Tuesday at Madison Field. Marshfield swept the two regular-season Wisconsin Valley Conference games this season against the Panthers.

Delilah Abundiz did the bulk of the work in the circle for Stevens Point, tossing 4 2/3 innings with four strikeouts and only one hit allowed. Maren Sauvageau threw 1 2/3 innings, giving up three hits, and Fink got two outs in the shutout win.

Fink led off the second inning with a solo home run, and the Panthers added two insurance runs in the fifth on RBI singles by Brooke Swiecki and Maddy Miklesh.

Megan Clary had two of Wisconsin Rapids’ four hits, including a double. The Red Raiders finish the season with an 18-6 record.
