PLOVER LEGION BASEBALL SWEEPS OPENING TWO GAMES AT SHEBOYGAN TOURNAMENT

SHEBOYGAN – The Plover American Legion baseball team won a pair of games on the first day of the Sheboygan Legion Tournament on Friday.


Plover defeated Denmark 4-2 and Green Bay Southwest 3-1 in a pair of tightly-contested games.


Jake Sankey earned the win in Game 1 for the Black Sox, striking out eight in 6 2/3 innings. Cyle Zblewski got the final out to earn the save.


Tommy Drohner had two hits, Marcus Jaworski drove in two runs, and Brycen Cashin scored twice for Plover.


Jon Nafe threw a complete game one-hitter in the victory over Green Bay Southwest. Sankey had two hits and Cashin had a double and a run scored for the Black Sox.


Plover (7-5) continues play in the tournament on Saturday with games against Hartford at 10 a.m. and Pulaski at 3 p.m. Both games will be live at zaleskisports.com.
