PLOVER BLACK SOX LEGION BASEBALL SPLITS FOUR AT MINNESOTA TOURNAMENT, STANDS AT 5-3 THIS SUMMER

PLOVER – The Plover Black Sox ran their record to 5-3 this summer after splitting four games at the Upper Midwest Classic that was held Friday and Saturday at New Ulm and Essig, Minn.
The Black Sox won three of their first four games prior to the tournament.
Plover defeated Antigo 3-2 on June 25, split a doubleheader at La Crosse Logan on June 27, winning 4-2 and losing 11-7, and beat D.C. Everest 2-0 in its Wisconsin Valley Legion League opener June 30.
Drew Kedrowicz threw six shutout innings with six strikeouts to earn the win against D.C. Everest, with Thomas Hunt picking up the save as he struck out the side in the seventh around one hit allowed.
Marcus Jaworski, Kenny Schultz and Jon Nafe each had two hits, with Nafe and Jake Sankey driving in the two Plover runs in the win.
At the tournament against four teams from Minnesota over the weekend, Plover lost to Marshall 12-4 and defeated Eastview 12-5 on Friday. On Saturday, the Black Sox lost 2-1 to Mankato and rebounded with a 7-0 win over LaSauer.
Brycen Cashin, Jaworski and Kedrowicz had RBIs in the loss to Marshall.
In the victory over Eastview, Plover scored multiple runs in each of its final four at-bats to win going away.
Tommy Drohner and Nafe each had two hits and two RBIs, Caleb Meyer and Cyle Zblewski also had two hits each, and Jaworski drove in a pair of runs as well for Plover. Hunt picked up the win, striking out five in three innings of relief.
Schultz was the tough-luck losing pitcher against Mankato as he allowed two runs and six hits in a complete-game effort. The Black Sox were held to three hits in the loss, with Cashin having a double and scoring their only run.
Plover scored six runs in the opening inning of its win over LaSauer, and three Black Sox pitchers combined on a two-hit shutout.
Bryce Ehr earned the win, striking out five and giving up just one hit in five innings. Danny Baumgartner and Zblewski each threw a shut out inning to finish off the victory.
Jaworski had two hits and an RBI, and Baumgartner and Devin Mrozek each had two RBIs for the Black Sox.
