MOSINEE SOFTBALL WINS WILD ONE AT NORTHLAND PINES

EAGLE RIVER – Hailey Shnowske and Martina Miller had RBI singles in a two-run sixth inning to help the Mosinee softball team overcome an 11-run inning by Northland Pines and defeat the Eagles 15-14 in a wild Great Northern Conference game Tuesday at Northland Pines High School.


Mosinee led 13-3 heading into the bottom of the fifth inning when Northland Pines exploded for 11 runs, knocking out Indians’ starting pitcher Adeline Strejc to take a 14-13 lead.


Aubrey Beyer had a bases-loaded double to clear the bases and give the Eagles the lead.


Mosinee responded in the sixth with the two hit RBI hits and Miller shut down Northland Pines in the final two innings to preserve the victory.


Mosinee (13-2, 8-2 Great Northern Conference) finished with 15 hits, including three each by Mikah Keller and Amber Gonzalez. Strejc added two doubles and three RBI in the victory.


Madison Stebbeds went 4-for-5 with two doubles and five RBI to pace the Eagles’ offense.


Mosinee plays at first-place Medford on Thursday at 5 p.m.
