WAUSAU – The Mosinee boys soccer team held Antigo without a shot and rolled to a 6-0 win in a Great Northern Conference matchup held at People’s Soccer Complex on Thursday.
Toren Holtz scored twice, and Ondrej Napravnik, Garrett Dononhue and Jake Neumann all scored in the first half as the Indians racked up a 5-0 lead by intermission.
Trevor Tazelaar added the final goal for Mosinee three minutes into the second half.
Mosinee coach Joseph Carlson pointed to the play of Cole Kowalski as a key to the victory.
“Cole was playing outside of his normal position at midfield and instead was playing in the back of the defense,” Carlson said. “He did an outstanding job of directing long balls from Antigo back to the Mosinee offense and creating opportunities for himself.”
Mosinee finished the game with 37 shots, 24 shots on goal and 12 corner kicks. Antigo (0-6, 0-2 GNC) had no shots and no corner kicks for the entire game.
Mosinee is now 1-1 in the Great Northern and 4-2 overall. Mosinee next takes the field on Tuesday, in nonconference play against Waupaca at Edgewood Park. Game time is 4:30 p.m.
