MOSINEE BOYS SOCCER SHUTS OUT NORTHLAND PINES

MOSINEE – The Mosinee boys soccer team avenged an early-season loss to Northland Pines by defeating the Eagles 2-0 in a Great Northern Conference match Thursday at Edgewood Park.
Mosinee is now 9-4 overall and 4-2 in the Great Northern Conference. Northland Pines falls to 4-5-1 and 2-4 in conference play.
Mosinee put early pressure on Northland Pines and Cole Holtz cracked through with a goal in the seventh minute.
The Indians had two goals taken away with offside calls, but were able to keep Northland Pines from tying the match.
Garret Donohue added a goal off a direct kick from Cole Holtz with seven minutes remaining to give Mosinee a much-needed insurance score.
Mosinee wins The River Cup, the travelling trophy that goes to the winner of the two-game season series with Northland Pines based on goal-differential.
Following the game, the Mosinee team recognized educators with a card and an apple, and shared how the teachers and staff of the Mosinee School District made a difference in their lives.
Mosinee plays a nonconference match at Amherst on Tuesday.
