MOSINEE BOYS SOCCER SHUTS OUT EAU CLAIRE NORTH

MOSINEE – The Mosinee boys soccer team scored three times in the opening 20 minutes and went on to shutout Eau Claire North 5-0 in a nonconference match Saturday at Edgewood Field.


Toren Holtz scored in the 10th minute on an assist from Cole Holtz, then added another four minutes later on an assist from Jaeger Dhein to give Mosinee a 2-0 lead.


In the 19th minute, Dhein scored off a rebound by the North goalkeeper, and the Indians held on to their 3-0 lead for the remainder of the half.


Mosinee controlled the remainder of the game as Cole Holtz added a goal on an assist from Garret Donohue and Toren Holtz added another on a Thomas Miller assist in the 60th minute, finishing off a hat trick.


Ben Harris made a pair of saves for Mosinee, which improves to 5-3 this season. North drops to 2-5-2. The Indians finished with a 16-2 advantage on shots on goal.


Mosinee returns to action on Tuesday with a key Great Northern Conference game at home against Rhinelander. The game starts at 4:30 p.m.
