MARATHON SOFTBALL SWEEPS STRATFORD IN MARAWOOD SOUTH DOUBLEHEADER

MARATHON – The Marathon softball team grabbed its first two wins of the season, sweeping a Marawood Conference South Division doubleheader over Stratford by identical 8-6 scores on Thursday at Marathon High School.

Ella Mader had a home run and scored three times in the opener, and Lauren Karlen, Delaney Lang and Kali Prihoda each had home runs in the nightcap for Marathon (2-8, 2-3 Marawood South).

Delaney Dennee was 3-for-4 with two RBI, and Ally Zuleger had a single, a home run and four RBI for Stratford in the first game.

Kalyn Schueller and Zuleger hit homers in Game 2 for the Tigers (4-3, 1-3 Marawood South), and Tessa Berg and Megan Wiese each had two hits in the loss.

Kayla Radtke pitched all 14 innings for Marathon, earning the win in both games.

Both teams play nonconference road games on Friday with Marathon heading to Athens and Stratford traveling to Phillips.
