ATHENS BOYS BASKETBALL WHIPS CHEQUAMEGON TO MAINTAIN LEAD IN MARAWOOD NORTH

PARK FALLS – The Athens boys basketball team extended its lead in the Marawood Conference North Division standings with a 68-43 victory over second-place Chequamegon on Tuesday at Chequamegon High School.


The Bluejays are now 10-2 overall and 5-2 in the Marawood North, 1½ games ahead of Chequamegon (9-4, 4-4 Marawood North).


Cooper Diedrich poured in 30 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, and Kody Lepak added 12 points and six rebounds for Athens.


Athens plays a Marawood North game at Prentice on Friday.
