MARATHON – Ava Schill threw a five-inning, two-hit shutout and Abbi Berard smacked a two-run homer and drove in three as the Assumption softball team rolled past Marathon 13-0 in a Marawood Conference South Division game Thursday at Marathon High School.
Schill struck out six, did not walk a batter, and gave up just two singles to pick up the win. She also delivered two hits and three RBIs for the Royals, who are now 14-1 overall and 8-1 in conference play.
Cristin Casey and Kendall Schmidt each added two hits and an RBI, and Maddie Abbot had a double and two RBIs for Assumption.
Assumption wraps up its Marawood South and regular-season schedule Monday at home against Wausau Newman Catholic.
Marathon ends its Marawood South season with a 3-7 record (7-13 overall) and will play nonconference games at home against Rhinelander on Friday at Antigo on Monday.
