WESTFIELD – The Wisconsin Rapids Assumption boys basketball team overcame an eight-point halftime deficit to defeat Westfield 40-38 in a nonconference game Monday at Westfield High School.


Westfield led 26-18 at halftime before the Royals stormed back and held the Pioneers to 12 points and just three baskets from the field in the second half to squeeze out the win.


Ryan Shaw had 19 points and Reed Duellman added 11 for Assumption (11-12).


Cole Barton led Westfield (4-19) with 18 points.


Assumption finishes its regular-season schedule with a Marawood Conference South Division game at Marathon on Thursday.
