WISCONSIN RAPIDS SOFTBALL SWEEPS TWINBILL AT TOMAH

TOMAH – The Wisconsin Rapids softball team wrapped up its regular-season schedule with a doubleheader sweep of Tomah on Thursday, winning 5-1 and 17-0 in the nonconference matchup.
Rapids scored four times in the top of the seventh inning to pull out the win in Game 1.
Meghan Jochimsen drove in the go-ahead run with a single, Megan Clary scored on a passed ball, Rhiannon Carroll knocked in Jochimsen and another run scored on an error to earn the Red Raiders the win.
Carroll went the distance in the circle for Wisconsin Rapids, striking out five with two walks. She also went 3-for-4 at the plate. Clary and Emily Friday each added two hits.
A 10-run second inning propelled the Red Raiders to the victory in the nightcap.
Clary had three hits, including a double and a home run, and drove in four to lead the way for Wisconsin Rapids.
Jochimsen and Hayley Wagner each went 3-for-4 as well, and Sawyer Holberg drove in three runs for Rapids.
Clary picked up the pitching win, allowing just two hits in four innings as the game ended due to the 15-run rule.
Wisconsin Rapids (17-5) will host Wausau West in a WIAA Division 1 regional semifinal Tuesday at Lincoln High School. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m.
