STEVENS POINT LEGION BASEBALL WALKS OFF BOTH GAMES IN DOUBLEHEADER SWEEP OF APPLETON

STEVENS POINT – The Stevens Point Sixers American Legion baseball team swept a doubleheader over the Appleton DoubleDays with a pair of walk-off wins on Sunday at Bukolt Park.
Colby Hintz had a walk-off single to score Bennett Klish with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning of the opener for the Sixers (2-1) in a 5-4 victory.
Kale Roth, Asher Jordan and Hintz each had two hits in the win.
Nathan Lemanczyk went the distance for Stevens Point, striking out four without a walk. He scattered six hits and only one of the four runs allowed was earned.
Neither team scored until Smola singled home Tyler Giese in the bottom of the seventh inning of Game 2 to give the Sixers another thrilling win.
Smola finished 3-for-3 and Deacan Koback added two hits for the Sixers.
Hintz threw a complete-game shutout for the Sixers, striking out five and allowing just three hits.
Stevens Point hosts Antigo at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Bukolt Park.
