STEVENS POINT LEGION BASEBALL SHUTS OUT MERRILL

STEVENS POINT – Blade Niewiadomski and Josh Opiola combined on a two-hit shutout as the Stevens Point Post 6 American Legion baseball team blanked Merrill 9-0 in a Wisconsin Valley Legion League game Tuesday at Bukolt Park.


Niewiadomski allowed two hits and struck out 13 in 6 2/3 innings, giving way to Opiola for the final out in the shutout win for the Sixers (4-6).


Niewiadomski also had two doubles and drove in three runs, leadoff hitter Benett Klish had two hits, two RBI and scored three times, and Deacan Koback added a single, a double and two RBI for Stevens Point.


Stevens Point plays at Wisconsin Rapids in another WVLL game Wednesday at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast live at zaleskisports.com.
