STEVENS POINT GIRLS TENNIS OPENS SEASON WITH 2-1 RECORD AT HOME INVITATIONAL

STEVENS POINT – The Stevens Point Area Senior High girls tennis team opened its 2021 campaign by winning two of three dual meets at its home SPASH Invitational on Wednesday.
Stevens Point defeated Appleton East 7-0 and Menomonie 5-2, and dropped a tight 4-3 decision to Waunakee.
Addison Jandrain won all three of her matches at No. 4 singles for the Panthers, including a three-set win over Lily Hastings of Menomonie.
Stevens Point’s No. 1 and No. 2 doubles teams also went a perfect 3-0. The No. 1 team of Abby Erwin and Tatum Thielman lost only 11 total games in the three 2-0 set wins. The No. 2 team of Caroline Blakeman and Berit Borgnes went undefeated, needing three sets for its win over Waunakee’s Anna Loken and Sophie Schnaubelt, taking the match in comeback fashion 3-6, 7-5, 10-3.
Stevens Point will be back in action at the two-day Eau Claire Memorial Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
