SPRING VALLEY SHUTS OUT COLBY FOOTBALL IN BATTLE OF UNBEATENS

SPRING VALLEY – Spring Valley halted the Colby football team’s three-game winning streak, shutting out the Hornets 39-0 in a nonconference game Friday night at Spring Valley High School.

Following a scoreless first quarter, Spring Valley quarterback Aaron Borgerding had touchdown runs of 2 and 1 yards in the second quarter, the second score coming with just 14 seconds to go before halftime, to give the Cardinals a 13-0 lead.

Spring Valley added a pair of touchdowns in both the third and fourth quarters to win going away.

Colby (3-1) was held to four first downs and just 155 total yards. Tyler Klement had 50 yards rushing to lead the Hornets’ offense.

Nathan Fesenamier had 147 yards rushing and two touchdowns for Spring Valley (4-0).

Colby will look to improve on its 3-0 Cloverbelt Conference record at Fall Creek on Sept. 20.
