SPASH BASEBALL CLAIMS ROAD SWEEP IN MERRILL
MERRILL, WI - The SPASH Panthers baseball team handled the Merrill Blue Jays with a road sweep on Thursday night. The Panthers cruised to a 7-0 win in game one and a 7-4 win in game two.
Game one saw pitcher Logan Schulfer deliver a one-hit, seven strikeout, five inning effort from the mound. He was backed up by Bryce Ehr and Bryce Pelky, each striking out one in one inning of work to secure the shutout of the Blue Jays. In the game Kenny Schultz went 2-3 from the plate along with doubles from Jake Sankey and Logan Schulfer.
In game two it was again the Panthers touching the plate seven times. Schultz again was solid from the plate with two hits in three plate appearances. Jon Nafe also hit safely twice with Tommy Drohner and Schulfer each with a two-bagger. Merrill made noise late with three runs in the seventh inning before relief pitcher Riley Warzynski was able to calm the Blue Jay attack and leave with the 7-4 victory.
Head coach Kraig Terpstra, "We played good defense for our first day out. We got more comfortable at the plate as the day progressed. We played well but we have room to improve.”

Next up for SPASH is a double header against Wausau West, scheduled for May 6th at Bukolt Park with game one first pitch at 4pm.
