PORT EDWARDS GIRLS BASKETBALL PULLS AWAY IN SECOND HALF TO BEAT MARION

MARION – The Port Edwards girls basketball team used a 22-2 run that bridged the end of the first half and the start of the second to ease past Marion 49-23 in a nonconference game Friday at Marion Elementary School.


The Blackhawks used a 7-1 run to close out the first half to take a 14-12 lead into intermission, then started the second with a 15-1 advantage to bust the game open and cruise to their second win of the season.


Taylor Martin scored 25 points on the strength of five 3-pointers, and Melanie Sillars added 12 for Port Edwards (2-9) in the win.


Port Edwards plays at Tri-County in a Central Wisconsin Conference South Division game Tuesday.
