PITTSVILLE GIRLS BASKETBALL DOWNS NEKOOSA IN SEASON OPENER

PITTSVILLE – The Pittsville girls basketball team opened its season with a 45-38 nonconference victory over Nekoosa on Tuesday at Pittsville High School.
Pittsville held a narrow 18-17 lead at halftime before pulling away in the second half for the seven-point win.
Eight different Panthers scored in a balanced attack, with Gwyneth Kumm leading the way with eight points. Emma Bowden chipped in seven, and Delaney Klamrowski, Reese Grimm and Brynn Friday all had six.
Kiya Kolo had 21 points and Talya Wenger had 17 to account for all of Nekoosa’s points.
Pittsville’s next game is Nov. 30 at Iola-Scandinavia.
