PITTSVILLE FOOTBALL SHUT OUT AT AUGUSTA

AUGUSTA – Jackson Laxson rushed for 141 yards and quarterback Brennan King had three touchdown runs as Augusta shutout Pittsville 28-0 in a nonconference football game to open the 2021 season for both teams on Thursday at Augusta High School.


Laxson had a 4-yard run and a two-point conversion to give Augusta an 8-0 lead that they held into halftime.


King had touchdown runs of 1, 7 and 4 yards in the second half to finish off the win for the Beavers, who had 223 rushing yards in all.


Pittsville was held to 114 total yards, 57 on the ground and through the air.


Braden Friday had 41 yards rushing and quarterback Waylon Grimm was 6-for-18 passing, with Joey Redmond catching four passes for 40 yards to pace the Panthers’ offense.
