NEENAH WITHSTANDS LATE PUSH BY RACINE CASE TO ADVANCE TO D1 STATE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

The Neenah Rockets withstood a late run and a barrage from the Racine Case Eagles on Friday night in the first division 1 state semi-final with a 60-52 win.


Neenah led by as many as 16 in the second half (41-25) and led by 10 with 4:40 to go in the game, but a 9-1 run by the Eagles cut the lead to just two with 2:58 left in the game.


A tough night from the free throw line for the Neenah Rockets shooting just 12-23 from the charity stipe but knocked them in when they needed.


Neenah was led JJ Paider who finished with 17 points, 14 rebounds and four assists for the Rokcets. Three other players for Neenah finished in double figures: Chevalier Emery (16 points, seven assists), Brady Corso (14 points), and Eli Schmidt (11 points).


The Racine Case Eagles finished the night shooting 19-52 from the field (36.5%), but just 3-15 from beyond the 3-point arc.


The Eagles were led by Terryon Brumby who finished with 14 points and five rebounds. Amari Jedkins finished with 13 points and eight rebounds along with Adrian Bryant who poured in 13 points and ripped down four rebounds.


The Neenah Rockets look for their first state championship since 1978 and will play in the division 1 state championship game on Saturday night against either Menomonee Falls or Brookfield Central.
