MOSINEE VOLLEYBALL SWEEPS LAKELAND, SETS NEW GREAT NORTHERN CONFERENCE WIN STREAK RECORD

MINOCQUA – The Mosinee volleyball team earned another win and set a unique Great Northern Conference record in the process on Tuesday at Lakeland High School.


Mosinee downed Lakeland 3-0 for its 51st-straight conference victory, which sets a new all-sports GNC record in the process, breaking the Antigo boys hockey team’s 50-match unbeaten streak set from 2013-18 when it went 49-0-1.


The Indians defeated Lakeland 27-25, 25-15, 25-8 to improve to 7-0 in the Great Northern Conference this season. Lakeland is now 4-3.


Abbi Martin had 11 kills and six blocks, Jenna Placek added 10 kills, Alexis Jonas had 33 assists and four blocks, Claire Selenske had 15 digs, and Jessica Maurer had 10 digs for Mosinee (23-3 overall).


Mosinee will play a nonconference match at Wausau West next Monday before hosting Northland Pines for a GNC match on Tuesday, Oct. 5.
