MOSINEE GIRLS BASKETBALL RALLIES TO DEFEAT LAKELAND, REMAIN UNBEATEN

MOSINEE – The Mosinee girls basketball team held off Lakeland to win 50-46 in a battle of the top two teams in the Great Northern Conference standings on Friday at Mosinee High School.


Lakeland led 24-21 at halftime before the Indians outscored them by seven in the second half to pull out the victory.


Mosinee remains undefeated at 15-0 overall and 6-0 in the GNC, while Lakeland falls to 8-7 and 5-2 in the conference.


Jenna Placed scored 16 points, Kate Fitzgerald added 15 and Lexi Freiboth scored all 10 of her points in the second-half run for the Indians.


Julianna Ouimette had a game-high 17 points to lead Lakeland.


Mosinee will take a week off before traveling to Antigo for a GNC game on Friday, Jan. 21.
