MEDFORD BASEBALL DROPS PAIR AT WEEKEND EVENT

FRANKLIN - The Medford Red Raiders baseball team took on a couple of the top teams in the state on Saturday, including Division 1 No. 1-ranked Whitefish Bay.
Caleb Guden and A Gardner each knocked in runs in a 16-2 loss against Whitefish Bay in the first game of the day. Both runs came in the third inning with a solo homer by Guden and a triple by Gardner that scored Logan Baumgartner. Brigham Kelley pitched 2 1/3 innnings, striking out four and walking two.
Whitefish Bay's Hunter Lippe raked all day with hits in all four plate appearances, including a double, inside-the-park home run, and five runs batted in.
In the second game of the day Medford took a 2-1 lead into the sixth inning before Muskego plated four to go ahead 5-2. Medford fought back with two in the bottom of the sixth and seventh, but Muskego brought in two more in it's half of the seventh and went on to claim the win 7-6.
Logan Baumgartner took the loss for Medford, pitching six innings, striking out nine and giving up six runs on nine hits. Guden picked up his second home run of the day in the seventh inning, another solo round-tripper.
The big six-run sixth inning for Muskego featured back-to-back home runs by Brock Lulewicz and Sam Steuber.
