MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield softball team swept a nonconference doubleheader from Eau Claire Memorial on Thursday at Madison Field, winning the twinbill 14-0 and 13-1.
The Tigers, who have won four games in a row, improve to 6-2 overall this season.
Marshfield used an eight-run fourth inning to put away the opening game via the 10-run rule.
Courtney Donahue threw a complete game to earn the win for the Tigers, striking out 15 of the 17 batters she faced. Memorial managed one walk and one hit.
Loryn Jakobi had three hits, including a double, scored three times and drove in two for Marshfield. Brianna Jakobi added a single, a double and three RBIs, and Lydian Schaefer had two RBIs as well for the Tigers.
In Game 2, Marshfield pounded out 17 hits, six for extra bases.
Shylah Brogan hit her first varsity home run and drove in three, Emma Dorshorst added two hits and three RBIs, and Loryn Jakobi had three hits, including two doubles, for the Tigers.
Katelyn Sternweis allowed just one hit in a complete-game effort to pick up the win. She struck out 10 and walked six in her first varsity action.
Marshfield returns to action Tuesday with a home doubleheader against first-place Wisconsin Rapids. The first game begins at 4 p.m. Both games will be live at zaleskisports.com.
