MARATHON BOYS BASKETBALL STORMS BACK IN SECOND HALF TO DEFEAT ATHENS

ATHENS – Marathon snapped Athens’ nine-game winning streak, pulling out a 57-53 win in a Marawood Conference crossover boys basketball game Thursday at Athens High School.
Athens led 28-19 at halftime but couldn’t hold on as Marathon outscored the Bluejays by 13 in the second half to earn the victory.
Marathon is now 12-2 overall and 9-1 in the Marawood South, while Athens falls to 12-3 and 6-3 in the Marawood North as it lost its first game since falling to Stratford back on Dec. 9.
Kody Lepak had 16 points, and Aiden Janke added 15 points and 12 rebounds for Athens.
Marathon plays a Marawood South game at Edgar and Athens hosts a Marawood North game against Abbotsford on Tuesday.
