HOERNEMAN, KANITZ WIN RACES AS MARSHFIELD CROSS COUNTRY TEAMS SWEEP TITLES AT WAUSAU EAST

WAUSAU – Henry Hoerneman and Eliana Kanitz won the boys and girls races, respectively, as the Marshfield cross country teams swept the team standings at a dual meet with Wausau East on Thursday at the Bill Smiley Memorial Cross Country Course.


The Marshfield boys won 21-36 and the girls 16-45.


Horneman won the boy srace in 18:00.3, 46½ seconds ahead of Wausau East’s J.T. Gorski. Myles Jensen was third in 18:52.1 and David McKee fourth in 18:56.6 to help the Tigers to the team win.


In the girls race, Kanitz set a new course record by winning in 19:44.3, 30 seconds ahead of teammate Meghan Jaeger. Michael Dick was third in 20:54.2 and Kairi Kim took fourth in 21:16.9 to give Marshfield the top four finishers. Caleigh Kanitz rounded out the Tigers’ scoring by finishing sixth in 21:27.6.


Marshfield will have a week off before hosting Wausau West at Frey Field in Spencer on Oct. 9.
