GILMAN ENDS COLBY GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM'S FIVE-GAME WIN STREAK

COLBY – Gilman made 15 of 21 free throws in the second half to hold off Colby 69-62 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division girls basketball game Tuesday night at Colby High School.


Colby led 29-27 at halftime as Hailey Voelker and Emma Peavey each scored 10 points.


Gilman (9-4, 6-4 Cloverbelt East) responded with a big second half. Grace Grunseth scored 12 of her 14 points and Emma Grusneth had 13 of her 20 in the second half for the Pirates, who ended Colby’s five-game winning streak with the road win.


Peavey finished with 26 points, including five 3-pointers, and Voelker had 18 points and seven rebounds for Colby (10-5, 8-3 Cloverbelt East).


Colby plays at Greenwood and Gilman hosts Spencer on Friday in a pair of Cloverbelt East contests.
