EDGAR BOYS BASKETBALL OUTLASTS ATHENS IN DOUBLE OVERTIME

EDGAR – Edgar outscored Athens by four points in the second overtime and earn a thrilling 64-60 victory in a Marawood Conference crossover game Friday night at Edgar High School.

Athens falls to 13-4 overall and 7-4 in the Marawood North, but maintains a one-game lead over Chequamegon for the conference lead. Edgar is now 9-7 and 6-5 in the Marawood South.

Cooper Diedrich had 23 points and five rebounds, and Aiden Janke had 17 points and nine rebounds for Athens.

Teegan Streit had 18 points and Brett Baumgartner added 12 for Edgar.

Athens plays a Marawood North game at Rib Lake and Edgar will travel to Wisconsin Rapids Assumption for a Marawood South game on Tuesday. The Edgar game will be live-streamed at zaleskisports.com.
