COLBY/ABBY GIRLS, COLUMBUS CATHOLIC'S ANDREW SCHEER EARN TITLES AT SPENCER CROSS COUNTRY INVITE

SPENCER – Colby/Abbotsford had its five scoring runners place in the top seven in a dominating performance to the take the girls team honors at the Spencer Cross Country Invitational on Thursday at Frey Field.


Marshfield Columbus Catholic’s Andrew Scheer won the boys race in 17:29.9 as the Dons finished fifth in the team standings behind Phillips, Marshfield, Loyal/Greenwood and Colby/Abbotsford. Spencer had an incomplete team.


Phillips’ Allie Adomaitis won the girls race in 20:12.9, but five Colby/Abby runners made up the next six finishers as it scored 22 points to easily win the team crown. Phillips was second with 53. Marshfield, with mostly JV runners competing, finished third, Lyoal/Greenwood fourth and Spencer sixth.


Daisy Feiten finished second behind Adomaitis in 21:07.9, with Mercedes Sarkkinen third (21:33.8), Willow Oehmichen fourth (21:39.7), Trinity Severson sixth (21:49.0), and Reagan Schraufnagel seventh (22:40.4) for Colby/Abbotsford.


Carolina Sullenger took eighth (22:49.4), Natalie Hebbring ninth (22:57.7) and Lily Truskowski 11th (23:25.8) for Marshfield.


Addison Davidson took 14th (23:33.9) to lead Loyal/Greenwood.


Spencer’s top runner was Emily Wehrman, who was 27th in 25:12.1.


Marshfield Columbus Catholic’s only runner was Charlotte Schiferl and she finished 45th in 27:10.1.


Andrew Scheer won the boys race in 17:29.9, 26.2 seconds ahead of Phillips’ Connor Gabay. Andrew’s brother, Isaac Scheer, was third in 18:12.3.


Avery Horvath was fifth (18:17.3) and Connor Genteman sixth (18:28.3) for Loyal/Greenwood.


Marshfield, running without most of its regular varsity squad, was led by Jesse Messmann, who finished seventh in 18:33.4. David McKee was 10th (18:54.2), Judah Herman 13th (19:25.2), and Kennan Chojnacki 14th (19:38.6) for the Tigers.


Colby/Abbotsford had one top-10 finish as Talon Severson took ninth in 18:38.5. Sergio Camargo placed 15h (19:49.6) for the Hornets.


Spencer’s top runner was Malachai Anderson, who was 20th in 20:09.8.
