ATHENS GIRLS BASKETBALL PULLS AWAY IN SECOND HALF TO TOP COLBY

COLBY – McKennzie Schug scored all 10 of her points in the second half to fuel a dominant final push for the Athens girls basketball team in a 53-35 victory over Colby on Monday at Colby High School.
Athens led 25-23 at halftime before outscoring Colby 28-12 in the second half to pull away for the win and improve to 7-0 this season. Colby falls to 1-5.
Addison Lavicka and Sophie Coker each scored 15 points to lead Athens.
Kyle Orth led Colby with nine points.
The Hornets were held to five made baskets in the second half and they missed nine of 11 shots at the free throw line, finishing 7-for-23 overall in the game at the line.
Colby hosts Neillsville on Thursday, while Athens will have a week off before playing at Phillips on Tuesday, Dec. 21.
