ATHENS – The Athens boys basketball used a dominant first half to pull ahead by 21 at halftime and held on from there for a 48-32 win over Cadott in a nonconference game Monday night at Athens High School.
The Bluejays rolled out to a 28-7 lead by halftime as they were able to overcome a poor shooting game where they shot just 35 percent from the field (21-for-60) and were only 4-for-23 from 3-point range.
Kody Lepak and Aiden Janke each had double-doubles for Athens, with Lepak scoring 14 points and grabbing 11 rebounds, and Janke adding 12 points and 11 rebounds. Cooper Diedrich also had 12 points for the Bluejays.
Athens hosts Auburndale for a Marawood Conference crossover game on Thursday. The Bluejays would clinch at least a share of the Marawood North title with a victory.
