AMHERST – The Amherst baseball team continued its undefeated campaign with a 10-7 win over Shiocton in a WIAA Division 3 regional final Wednesday at Amherst High School.
Amherst (26-0) will take on Kewaunee in the second semifinal at the Division 3 Crivitz sectional on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. Stratford will play Oconto at 10 a.m. in the other semifinal with the winners playing for a sectional title and a berth in the WIAA state tournament at approximately 4 p.m.
The Falcons pulled ahead 5-0 after a four-run second inning and were able to hold on from there as they piled on five more runs in the fourth through sixth innings.
Wyatt Blaskowski earned the win on the mound, striking out two in five strong innings, and also had three doubles and two RBI at the plate.
Landon Moe and Marcus Glodowski each knocked in three runs, and leadoff hitter Jake Hoffman scored three times for Amherst.
Dawson Schmidt, Braxton Ebben and Carter McPheron each had two RBI for Shiocton, which finishes its season with a 12-12 record.
